Delicious Hawaiian shaved ice! I've had plenty on Maui and this is definitely just as delicious. I love their flavors, and that every thing is fresh and homemade. Highly recommend the Hawaiian sunrise

Cool place to cool yourself down with some shaved ice. With the hot and humid days we've been having was looking for a new way to cool down. Shaved ice seemed like a good idea and Makai didn't let me down. The owner was super cool. Was really proud of his business and it showed in the quality of his trade. The syrups were made by him. The ice shaved with his own hands in the back, (made that up, not sure how the ice is made). Ordering and chatting with him, reminded me of my time in Hawaii. A welcome memory back to the paradise. There were only a few menu items but you could pretty much mix and match any of the flavors you want. So really there are an unlimited number of combinations you could do. There is any seating so you'll have to pick up and go. Luckily around the corner there is plenty of seating in Little Italy. Help a small business and go check out Makai for a nice refreshing treat.

Great Hawaiian shaved ice! You could tell they make their syrups in house. So delicious and so refreshing on a hot day!

6/5 stars if I could. I met the owner and he is from Kauai and just recently opened this place. He really brought the true authentic island taste right here to San Diego and man am I excited!!! All his syrups are made fresh and all natural. He has those tropical flavors that you rarely see on the main land. I love all things Hawaiian so trust me when I tell you, this is as good as it gets. I am hesitsnt to say, but I think it’s better than Wailua shave ice in OB (which is amazing don’t get me wrong! If you’re in the area support them as well!! . But the texture of the shave ice, the syrup and the toppings at Makai Treats is why I would say it’s the best Hawaiian shave ice in San Diego. Do not hesitate to support this small business!
