This restaurantim caiger’s resort is a solid and favorable alternative to high-priced gourmet temples in the river landscape on one or the fast food offerings along 1000 islands parkway.
Driving to Kingston we decided to take the scenic 1000 Island Parkway. I noticed a road sign Open for Lunch in front of an older motel. The setting reminded me of my younger years and family summer holidays. Before we had a chance to look at the menu we were already taken by the view of the river. We didn't care what we ate or the quality we wanted to sit on the patio and take in this hidden from the parkway view. The menu was explained to us - how they buy local and food is prepared in house. Our server was very knowledgable I thought she was the owner. She had a quick sense of humour and very helpful with her meal suggestions. The fish and homemade fries came with a kaleslaw. Excellent and I am not a kale fan.My partner ordered the blue cheese burger with salad. No disappointment there. I bought some of the house dressing. We were then taken on a tour of the grounds and had some of the history explained to us about the area. I have travelled in this area for years and until today I had no idea that the St. Lawrence is a scuba divers paradise because of all the sunken ship wrecksCagier's dining is well worth the visitWe will be back and pass the experience on to othersCasual food excellent quantity and quality.
We had brunch and dinner at this restaurant. The food was made in a homemade style and was very filling. The prices were fair and the dishes were very tasty. The meatballs in the spaghetti were particularly delicious.
Last Sunday my wife and I went for breakfast. We couldn't find a table that wasn't prepared with cutlery etc.At some point a server came over and asked if we wanted coffee. we said decaf and she said she would brew a pot. However not giving us a menu or telling us what the buffet was about. Finally I went up and asked if we could go to the buffet. "sure".We scrounged around for some cutlery for our table had the food from the buffet. Now the scrambled eggs were very good, as were the home fries... Bacon and sausage were...well as they are. The fruit cocktail was overly sweet, probably from a can of something but I couldn't discern the various fruit flavours due to the excess sweetness. As we ate other customers were walking around the restaurant looking for cutlery and napkins. We saw at least three servers during our visit but none seemed to care about getting the tables ready and being attentive to customers. The only time we were asked if we wanted a coffee refill is when we asked for our bill.In true transparency I did send an email to Caiger's owner Mark with a private email. Since I have not received a response I decided to got public. My wife and I wanted to take our grand daughter to Caigers next weekend, but she now doesn't want to go due to such poor service.David
