Mr Cod - Reading

I bought rice and chicken for my 7-year-old son at this restaurant. After a few bites, he started vomiting. I noticed that the rice had gone bad, and when I called to complain, the manager, Anwar, was rude. He admitted that the rice was spoiled and should have been thrown away. I have been a customer of Mr Cod for years, but after this experience, I will not be returning. The quality of the food and service was poor, and the manager's attitude made it even worse.

Mr Cod, which was once the best fish and chip shop in South Reading, is now a restaurant to steer clear of. The fish was overcooked and rubbery, and the chips seemed to be leftovers from the day before. Even the battered sausage was tough and full of gristle. It seems like there may have been a change in ownership since our last visit to Reading. We will likely opt for a kebab from Oxford Road next time we're in town.

Ordered today chips hard and chicken dry not nice. The food tasted like it had been cooked hours ago .

As like other review, we will never order from them again. Mr Cod, Whitley Street. Others seem ok. Order was excepted at 8.16pm, by 10pm still no food. Called no one answered. If you cant keep up with order and delivery, then change your times as you said one hour. When it arrived after 2 hours First driver said it was nothing to do with him but straight away you could feel food was cold. Gets worse. All chicken burgers with mayo. One daughter has egg allergy , so asked for hers plain. She was very upset and couldn't eat burger. But my meal after paying £29.00 and £3.00 delivery wasn't even with the order. Cod and Chips. No apple pie as well. Called shopped and I will say the man I first spoke to was very polite , said sorry and he understood why I was angry . Heard him ask his manager what to do. The nice man said my manager will call you back. No call of course. I have since sent email and so on but nothing. Really they stole my money as i didn't get what I paid for. Food that we did get was cold and tasted horrible. Keep away. If I ever have a Mr COD again , I will go to Cemetery Junction. Much better. Only problem is they don't deliver which is a shame.

Avoid ordering from this restaurant at all costs! Some of the food was missing and what did arrive was cold and bland. I contacted the restaurant after ordering through Uber Eats and specifically requested salt and vinegar on both servings of chips, which they failed to provide. Despite calling to complain about my bad, incomplete, and cold order, the staff member I spoke to was rude and unhelpful. They suggested I place another order through Uber Eats at a discounted price and promised to include the missing items from my original order, but once again, the second order arrived without the missing items. When I called back to express my frustration, the man I spoke to was even more dismissive and unapologetic. This was an absolute disgrace! Don't waste your time, money, or calories on this place.
