Margaux's - Raleigh

Atmosphere is amazing, most of the food was excellent! Our server, Mary, was great, however we had a few snafus with our food. Our party all ordered the pre-fix menu and had the steak for our second course. Majority did not come out in the desired finish. We brought this to the attention of Mary and the manager, Val, (I believe is his name). He was very defensive of his chefs, even though the mistake was acknowledged by Mary (after seeing our steak cuts). Instead of just admitting that, hey, we messed up , he refused to apologize for the mishap (defiantly so), but did offer to credit the food. I didn 't care, or ask for, the credit, just wanted acknowledgement of the mishap and move on. Wish the owner was there so I could address this directly with him, but he was gone for the night. We 've eaten here many times and have always had a great experience, but disappointed by the management of this visit. Other patrons near our table, that heard our exchange came to me, unsolicited, acknowledged that Val 's actions were unprofessional, at the very least. Only posting so the owner can see this. We all make mistakes, just admit when you 're wrong... that 's all.

The food was good. Our waitress was a little abrasive. She also had not been introduced to the words, excuse me. She kept reaching between me and my husband. She passed my plate so close to my face that I could feel the heat. Another time, she had something so close to my eye. The majority of the time we didn't know she was behind us until something whisked pass my face.

Good food and service. It’s pricey, therefore, for us, this is a “special occasion” destination. The noise level can be loud at times making it difficult to hear others at the table. Two of us ordered the pork chops. They were flavorful, however, a bit tough. They were not easy to cut into. Our server was friendly and mostly attentive, however, forgot to serve the coffee with dessert (until reminded, however she did remove it from the bill to make it right. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience.

Amazing lighting, decorations, food, and service! The best chocolate mousse!

It was a very average meal for the price, previous visits left a better impression. I am not sure I would do it again. Appetizer and salad were good, main course was fair.
