The Freakin Rican - Queens

BAIT AND SWITCH! I spent a total of $299.34. Part of my order contained 24 pork pasteles. The meat filling was undercooked, rubbery, inedible salt pork fat. No ham...no pernil. I emailed Derick and corresponded with Dayana Disla (Executive Assistance). I sent her 8 pictures of dissected pasteles which clearly shows the piles of pure rubbery fat. Her excuse was... Yes, sometimes the staff is in production mode and may overlook a couple with less meat. She went on to say she will not provide a refund. I was baited by the savory pork filled pasteles that Derick prepares on his youtube channel and it is clearly not what I received. Derick needs to implement quality control in his establishment. I live in California and I did not mind paying the $123 just on shipping cost because I trusted Derick would send an outstanding product like what he advertises. I will never purchase again, and I will inform other 's of my terrible experience. See attached pictures

The food was delicious, but you better not be in a hurry. Waited almost 1 hour for appetizers!

Friendly service, everyone had a smile and was helpful. But food was not authentic Puerto Rican food. Pernil was too salty and had too much vinegar, I’m not even sure what that was. The rest was not what I expected either. Wouldn’t go again. And wouldn’t recommend. NOW, if you’ve never had Puerto Rican food then by all means, enjoy. Disappointed.

The best pernil I've had in a restaurant! Tender, flavorful, juicy. Paired with trifongo which was absolutely sublime. We had alcapurria as a stater and it was the real thing. My husband has bistek encebollado and arroz con gandules which we would rate at a 3.5 4. A bit too dry, both, and the bistek should have been trimmed. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was great, it felt like home. There was a bit of a wait, but it was worth it.

I was hoping for better portions of food on some items. The food was okay. I wanted to try that place for a while. I was a little disappointed . I was really hoping that place was going to be great. It's not bad by a long shot. I tried close to half of the menu . Personally, I wanted that place to hit it out of the ball park, but unfortunately, it came up a little short. Hope he really brings it up if he changes portions and doesn't go crazy over doing with putting too much sauce . Example in the 3 meat sandwich. It was really good but the part of the sandwich the didn't have that sauce was really good. Wishbone guy all the best. Place was clean.Parking: Took an uber there glad I did
