Bidra med feedbackI was in town with a bus. The need to add fuel for the south trip. Here for fuel stopped and decided to have a meal. Excellent friendly service. Meal portions are large and very good. The restaurant itself gets a little tired... but the bathrooms were recently renovated. Nice touch.
After some excellent experiences in Chilliwack and Cache Creek, I was looking forward to the patronage of Husky House in Prince George. The bar had been high and I had fully expected the PG Husky to meet or meet expectations. Unfortunately, I was abandoned in a rather important way. Let me put the stage for the rest of this review: Husky House has earned a reputation to serve excellent comfort food at a great price. The portions are generally large, but this is not done to compensate for bad quality. On the contrary! Food – at least in Chilliwack and Cache Creek – is homemade what you want after a long day on the street. In short, what you get at Husky House is usually hearty and satisfying. Besides the food, the accompanying service was always really good. If you combine delicious food, friendly service and a pleasant price, it makes for a total nice experience. I visited the Husky House in PG. Interestingly, this is not the first time that the PG Husky House was on my radar. Back in 2012 I had a voucher for this facility that would have given X million dollars from a meal (I don't remember how I got it). The intention was always there to visit as part of a silly “date”, but it never came by. Fast-forward 8 years and my partner and I will find us in PG – after a nice trip to Barkerville. When we approached the city, I spied the Husky House restaurant and so we went for a very late lunch. Would it fit with current experiences in Chilliwack and Cache Creek? The actual restaurant room of this Husky is quite small, but it looks recently renovated (or only well maintained), and therefore is warm and welcoming - quite similar to the Husky in Cache Creek. All necessary COVID protocols have been followed: certain tables were not used to promote physical distancing; Handsanitizer was easily available when entering the esophagus; and our server wore a facial cover at any time. I have said it before and will say again: regarding the current health regulations, Husky House restaurants were the most consistent of all places I visited since this beautiful pandemic. In previous reviews, I described the customer service in Husky House restaurants as “not only phenomenal”. Unfortunately, the service was not what I would call phenomenal here. I mean, it wasn't bad at all, but it was very obvious that our server only did their job and nothing more. On the top the cook seemed very happy in the kitchen . . . It is simply regrettable that it does not translate into excellent food! The food here was probably the biggest disappointment. I ordered the Hamburger Steak with French fries (half order) and my partner ordered the Hamburger Steak Poutine. In both cases our hamburger was very overhauled – dry – and the accompanying engraving was burned. In contrast to Husky House experiences elsewhere, the Hamburger was not a handmade patty; it was very clear just a cheap pressed. My companion-dinner-back was also quite dry. The French pommes were hand-cut, but they suffered the same fate as anything else on our respective records: they were overdue. In short, this experience crystallized the fact that not all Husky House restaurants are the same. Unfortunately, the one in PG falls short. FOOD: 2/5 SERVICE: 3/5 VALUE: 3/5 RECOMMENDATION: Well, this experience does not make me eager to return to Prince George Husky. There are much better ways in town for a fast and cheap meal. But it wasn't all bad. When we were gone, we used a promo in the market area of the store and snore 2 500ml 6-pack iced tea and water for like $6. Well, that's the value you can't shake a stick! But regarding the restaurant, I would not be very recommended given the variety of restaurants in the city. And that was exactly what I expected. The service was excellent. The food was excellent. They were big parts. Great interaction with locals.
Food is plentiful and tastes great. Lots of parking for campers or whatever you can drag. The staff was always pleasant and the service is fast.
Many Husky gas stations have a restaurant inside and most of them have reasonable food. Can't say that about this one. The sandwich was uninspired. Turkey and lettuce between two pieces of bread may hit the definition of a sandwich but how about adding some...mayo, mustard or other things. Subway makes a very good sandwich. Their soup of the day was very salty and the sandwich came on white bread when I asked for sourdough. Overall, a rather poor gas station meal.
