Bidra med feedbackI spend many a happy hour in The Granary. They are kind and friendly, their food is always beautifully presented, tasty and consistantly good. This morning I had fruit pie with Apple, Wimberry and juniper, the pastry was excently and the fruit rich and juicy. The only issue being how do I stop myself having a second peice
Very slow service, 6 luke warm Breakfasts were randomly served over a period of an hour, unacceptable that you don’t all eat together
After a walk around Hay-on-Wye we fancied a coffee stop, we found what looked like a lovely little coffee shop, when you walk in it looks very charming and cute! That’s where the good points end! Once we decided what we were drinking I placed the order with a very sullen lady behind the till, no smile, no thank you just “your drinks will be at the end of the bar”. When the drinks were ready I went up to collect them, sat down and then had to get up again as there were no teaspoons with the tea. The atmosphere in there was like a library, no music playing and you felt like you couldn’t speak. We didn’t order food but it looks like when you do they bring it to your table without cutlery so you have to get up and collect that! After we had finished our drinks I went to the toilet, there was no hand soap and no paper towels! This could be a great place it’s just a shame that the staff in there seem to be so unhappy!
What a lovely little quirky independent cafe. We enjoyed a great lunch whilst visiting Hay on a soggy Sunday in July. I had the Ratatouille and my husband had the roast beef, both hearty portions and absolutely delicious!! The owner (didn't get her name unfortunately) was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The decor a little rough around the edges for some but we loved the atmosphere and if you're looking for decent, home cooked honest food you can't go wrong.
Wonderful menu of fresh mainly organic food. Excellent rainbow coloured salads with nuts and seeds. Vegan friendly but the organic beef was heavenly. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The latest research on diet (look up Tim Spector on Zoe) can make it difficult to eat in average fish or burger and chips places but the granary ticks all the boxes for the future of healthy food. Take a bow.
