Los Portales Mexican - Powder Springs

So glad they moved locations. The new location is much nicer and not hidden anymore. Food is always fresh, staff is always friendly. What more could you want. They have the best margaritas in town.

We come here regularly but never again. Roach crawling on our table. I notify our server, she does nothing besides Brings me the check. NO apologies, NO we just sprayed , NOTHING. Absolutely no customer service. She simply returned to the both with three other servers and folded napkins. Health department should board the place UP!

For years, I 've been saying that I 'm going to stop by this place, but La Parilla across the street and their wonderful fish tacos always lure me away like a siren song. Today even though LaParilla 's Powder Spring location had FINALLY re opened its doors after that awful kitchen fire I decided to stop by. It was a decision I would soon come to regret. The place was dark and deserted at 2:30pm on a weekday, but I was not to be deterred. I told myself that I 'd probably just missed the lunch rush. The waitress was not able to tell me what sort of fish they used in the fish tacos. We had a little bit of language barrier, but as long as it was mild fish (so no catfish or anything like that), I told her I was fine. I ordered it 'to go ' and decided to wait until I got in the car to check things out. I opened the styrofoam container and I was sooooo disappointed. Honestly, the fish looked old and sad even though it was breaded and fried. It was covered in shredded iceberg lettuce (side eye) and pico de gallo and some sort of weird, orange sauce. I had a bite and it fish tasted off and even though I didn 't see any they reeked of cilantro. Which I hate. My accompanying french fries looked (and ultimately tasted) like they 'd been cooked days ago. I didn 't deduct any stars for the crappy fries because when I order a burger or fries from a Mexican place or even a Chinese place I do so knowing the risk I 'm taking (lol). A lot of times, little ordered items will be freezer burnt or poorly prepared executed. I took some pics. I tried to eat the food but it was just so bad and I knew the fish was gonna give me some major bathroom issues, so just trashed it and literally drove across the street to their competition. Consistently great food. Makes my crazy special order without making me feel like I am inconveniencing them. We used to sit and watch everyone play trivia because it was a hoot. Cant wait for that to come back. The staff has always been kind and made their best effort. It has been hard during COVID and even now while hiring is so difficult. Wont catch me anywhere else for my Mexican fix!

Over cooked rice, what appears to be sour cream in guacamole, gross mushrooms, streak that is lack luster and sad. Absolutely do not go here if you like Mexican. Never ordering from here again.
