Ci siamo stati ieri pomeriggio. Personale eccellente... terrazzino sul mare e gelati artigianali.

We were early for our dinner in Portopalo, and stopped at Plaza del Sol for an aperitivo. A small sheltered terrace offers a beautiful view on the sea and the island nearby; the bar is nicely decorated, and proudly displays it is the most Southern bar in Europe, islands excluded . The staff was friendly and efficient, COVID precautions were fully taken, and it was a pleasant stay. For three prosecco, one beer (the birra dello Stretto , a real Sicilian beer made by a local brewery near Messina, not yet taken over by some multinational brewing company and produced far from Sicily) and some water we paid €19. We later noticed that they offer a range of cocktails and various finger food items (I noticed some interesting bruschetta), so we have to go back for further exploration and enjoyment.

Worth a visit! Absolutely delicious granita, try the almond or peach and you will remember the place for the rest of ypur life
