The Taproom At Bird Creek Farms

I am hosting an exchange student and taking her all over Michigan, showing her all 5 Great Lakes and as much as I can in between. I am so happy that we stopped here for dinner while visiting the area! The food was fantastic, from appetizers to dessert! The bucket of pumpkin spice donut with the glaze was particularly fun and delicious, and the portion so large we shared with others at our table. We really enjoyed the outdoor community seating , as we got to meet some local folks who not only talked about the area with us, they invited us to play trivia with them. With the attentive service, delicious drinks, fabulous meal, and fun, relaxed atmosphere, I felt spoiled and we both had a fantastic time!

Service was very, very slow. Burger was good, beer and service was not so good. Waitress would disappear for long periods. The couple we dined with ordered appetizers and soup, both of which were delivered with our meals. The waitress missed one of the orders and we were short a meal. After the hour plus wait for food, after being seated we found out they add a 3% surcharge for credit card purchases. Will be in the area again, but not stopping here.

Ever since this restaurant opened our family group of 10-12 visits on the Friday night of our weekend get together. It's been one of our favorite spots. Last Friday, the 11th, we came for dinner and were told they could not accommodate our party of 12 due to size. We asked it we could be split up, 6 and 6 and were told they still could not accommodate our party. A man from a party of four, who was seated at the longest table in the restaurant, offered to give us that table because he actually wanted to be sat inside. Thankfully the restaurant allowed this. Our food and drinks were fine, but it sure took the wind out of our celebratory sails to accomplish this. In past years this was never a problem. The next night, Rachel's of Bad Axe had no problem accommodating our group. We are mystified about this encounter. This restaurant is in a vacation site, and I would think they would expect groups of a larger size, as they had done in the past.

Despite its seemingly simple appearance, the restaurant's aesthetic makes the atmosphere very cozy. The food felt a bit delayed however, *everything* everyone had was delicious. We were all starving and yet we still unconsciously paused to enjoy every bite of our food. Every component of each dish was perfectly cooked and/or seasoned to blend into a fusion of flavors. While we were sitting in across from a gorgeous field, the food took us to an esteemed restaurant in a major city.

Amazing place to eat! The service was great. The food was awesome! I highly recommend the salmon bites! The atmosphere is great inside or outside.Unfortunately, my friend is training a service dog, and they wouldn't let the dog sit out on the deck with us and lay under the table.
