Garfield Inn - Port Austin

Teresa is a very kind and giving Hostess! She welcomed us with an Anniversary Message on her sign which was a surprise. She spent time with us telling about the History of this beautiful B B, and was very accommodating. The home itself is decorated superbly in Victorian decor and our room 2) on the 2nd floor was a lovely dark blue with silver accents. We had all the amenities, including candy and a Keurig Coffee pot so we could have coffee early. The breakfast was very delicious and the presentation impressive. She even played the piano AND the organ as we ate. We had a lovely Anniversary Celebration at the Garfield Inn. One thing to note...there is not a Restaurant anymore in the B&B there used to be.

This was my first time staying at this restaurant. The owner, Theresa, was a wonderful host. I would highly recommend it to others. It was a fantastic experience and I enjoyed every moment of it.

The new restaurant at Garfield Inn offers a simple yet diverse menu that caters to our rural community. While most menu options are unique to the area, the execution fell short on flavor and portion sizes were deemed overpriced. The $20 cacio e pepe came in a small bowl at room temperature, lacking in seasoning. The chicken bolognese was flavorful, but the chicken was difficult to find. A suggestion for the owners is to toast the bread properly and avoid using ricotta or too much sauce on soft bread, and to remember to season dishes adequately. The bar service was slow despite the nearly empty dining room, and the overall dining experience could use improvement. It is suggested that the restaurant either elevate its menu or adjust its prices. Despite these issues, I am willing to give it another try.

If visiting the Thumb. This is a must if you have a few extra bucks to spare. Pleasant atmosphere. Steeped in History. And Theresa is just great. Breakfast in the morning is wonderful. Do not miss this stay.
