The Port - Polk County

We would have dined at this restaurant if it hadn't been for the rudeness of the older woman at the door. It's quite a journey to get there, and we have visited before. As soon as we walked in and headed to the bathroom, she blocked our way and insisted that we had to use the one outside. She was also rude to my husband when he asked a question and then went to find someone else to explain the situation. At that point, the rudeness was just too much for us!

The fish tacos were soggy, and neither my son nor husband could eat them. My Mahi was just okay, lacking in flavor, and they forgot my rice. When I asked for it, the waiter went to retrieve it, but it was still an inconvenience. The broccoli tasted like frozen cafeteria vegetables, and the conch fritters were hard and chewy. My son’s girlfriend described the smothered chicken as rubbery. The dish I was most excited about was the oysters. We ordered the ones topped with Parmesan cheese and the ones with spinach dip, but both were disappointing. The oysters seemed to be simply raw with a sprinkle of dry Parmesan on top, and the spinach dip version was even worse. Usually, they would be placed under the broiler to melt the cheese! It felt like no one on staff was motivated to deliver good service or food during our visit. The waiter was friendly enough, but overall, it seemed like there was a lack of care in the restaurant. We certainly won’t be making the trip out here again!

I drove 20 miles to the restaurant at dusk on Saturday, but I couldn't find it. There were no lights marking the entrance or door, and the area was filled with trucks and boat trailers. After trying to locate the entrance and failing, I decided to turn around and leave.

My daughter and I had such an amazing time there. It was busy but they informed us that we were going to be seated but that it might take time for our orders to be taken and the food to come out. We had such an amazing view of the water we didn’t care. Screened in outside patio right on the water. The interaction of the staff was great. They were cracking jokes and making us laugh. Food didn’t take long at all and was so good. The broccoli (yes I mean that) was worth ordering. It was so good. All homemade food and you can taste it. We are excited to go back.
