We absolutely love this deli and the food it offers! Everything is so fresh, and they have some truly gourmet options. Our go-to is usually a custom sandwich—Proscuitto is my favorite—accompanied by a lovely side salad to complete the meal. Don’t be mistaken: this isn’t your average subway sandwich shop. It’s a top-tier deli experience, and their dessert selection alone is worth the trip. From lemon cheesecake to tiramisu, the choices are endless (and make sure to arrive early, as everything is made fresh). This place offers more than just sandwiches; they have fresh pasta, delightful salads, and a great selection of wines and beverages—not to mention McConnell’s ice cream! If your family can’t decide what to eat, take them to DePalo, where there’s something scrumptious for everyone!

During our stay in Monterey, we visited DePalo several times. The offerings included coffee, croissants, fresh fruit, and Bolognese, all of which were beautifully presented. Each time, the service was accompanied by a warm smile.

If you want to get ripped off this would be the place I walked in to grab an ice cream and when I went to pay for it the cashier scanned it and it rang up at $5.99 he looked at me cleared the amount and physically typed in $8.99 I asked him why he did that he said that's the price I told him he's wrong I just seen him scan it and it marked $5.99 he said it was something else for that price I asked him to re scan it he did not want to he then turned his register off and said look it's not scanning. I then told him he must think I was blind to not see him turn it off I asked if he would not Mind turning it back on and scanning it that I would pay what it scanned at he said no the price is wrong and scanner not scanning right I then handed him back the ice cream and grabbed my money back since I had laid the money on the counter to pay ahead of time so if the scanner is not working why did you charge the previous customers with the scanner and the ones after I got my money back you charged them with the scanner as well. This to me is fraud and I will be sending the BBB your way since business rules are if you have more then 3 items not scanning correctly you will get fined so if this is your business get your staff in shape and have them price check items on the shelf if you feel it's marked at a lower price than what you wish to sell it for and not have such suspicious behavior to where the cashier makes up a price per item as he wishes when the customer walks up to the counter.

We were SO lucky to stumble onto this place. Visited 5 times in a 3 day stay for breakfasts and takeout lunches for picnics elsewhere. Real Italian deli specialties and much more. Great bakery. Handmade sandwiches. Lots of wine. Not cheap, but treat yourself! Most other eating in Pismo area was so so. This place stands out. And thanks Christina behind the sandwich counter!
