Taqueria El Chilango - Phoenix

Located in a basement, this hidden gem may be easy to overlook. However, the service, tacos, and margaritas were all excellent!

The tacos at this restaurant are delicious and very authentic. However, finding parking can be a challenge. The steak tacos could use a bit more flavor, but the chips and red salsa are excellent.

Tacos El Chilango is hands down the best taco spot in the Logan Circle/AdMo area. Despite their small menu, they excel in every aspect. I used to dislike Mexican food, but after watching food shows and trying good places to eat, I finally understood what makes good Mexican cuisine. Here's why Tacos El Chilango should be your go-to taco place: they offer a fair price, three tacos per order, delicious meat that is well-marinated, and outstanding vegetables that truly set them apart. Their variety of salsas, incorporating different citric flavors and maintaining a fresh, chunky texture, will leave you wanting more. Be alert though, one of their salsas is very spicy, possibly their habanero salsa. And of course, no taco is complete without guac, and their guac is even better than what you might find at Jose Andres' restaurant. Overall, Tacos El Chilango is a gem in the sea of mediocre eateries and will surely make your day with their exceptional tacos.

Okay so immediately after eating these tacos a couple days ago, I was convinced this was one of the best taco places I'd ever eaten at. Unfortunately, my food poisoning made me think otherwise. My boyfriend and I basically ate all of the same things EXCEPT the salsa Roja that came with the chips. He was fine, so I'm assuming the salsa roja was what didn't sit well with me. The menu warned it was spicy, but I'd never had a problem with spice before. Anyways, this place didn't sit well at all with me. Maybe I'll try again someday, but I will definitely never try that salsa roja again. Yikes. My boyfriend thinks this is his favorite taco place in DC though so they have that going for them.

BEST TACOS IN DC! these are the most authentic you will get in the district. Sooo great such a hole in the wall
