Beck's Cajun Cafe - Philadelphia

Delicious food. We got the fried Mac and cheese balls, red beans and rice, with the blackened chicken Alfredo. All of it was great!

Awesome place to eat. Food is very fresh and cooked to order. It is real Cajun food just in Philadelphia. Sitting at the counter to eat is nice, and you can see the hard work done and the fresh ingredients and watch them prep all the food. Only the bestchicken breast with white meat is used, homemade macaroni, they slice their own meats. Sweet tea was great. Catfish and shrimpwere great, wish they had butter or honey for the cornbread.

It 's okay, not amazing. But if you go, make sure the waitress doesn 't add toppings or stuff you didn 't ask for. Came here for lunch last week, and there was a lady taking the orders by the counter, I ordered the jambalaya, and I DIDN 'T ASK FOR GUMBO, shesaid the jambalaya had chicken and shrimp, and she said that she could add some alligator sauce, and I declined. She pushed forgetting the cornbread, I accepted to order, and it was ok, but DRY. My jambalaya order took long, but finally came. It was verystrong, and I like curries and soul food, but this was a bit overwhelming and a tad salty, it had chunks of meat, and theshrimps were very small. Anyway, I ate my jambalaya, the waitress left the check, and there was a change of shift, then I checkmy receipt and turns out I was charged for GUMBALAYA $12 and some cents, the jambalaya is advertised for $8.95). I didn 't askfor any additionals. I ask this young man, who is now the cashier and waiter, and he said that it 's because I requested to addGumbo on my plate. I DIDN 'T REQUEST THAT, the waitress never told me she was going to add Gumbo. But he said there was nothingto be done because she already left. Then I had to pay for it. Never again.

On a summer trip to Philly from NYC, on a trip filled with amazing food all around, Beck's was my favorite meal! We went to Beck's for lunch during the second day of our trip, and I'm still dreaming about that place. Great food, quick service, and allthe ambiance that the Reading Terminal Market has to offer. Beck's is delicious. With SO many choices in Reading TerminalMarket, do not pass up Beck's Cajun Cafe!

How can one give it less than 5 stars? Went there for breakfast on an earlier Sunday and it was already busy. The devil's omelette was awesome and coffee was great! The waiter was quick, knowledgeable and efficient. I wish I could go there everyday.
