Squid Ink Sushi - Peoria

Terrible food and terrible service. I visited today and couldn't decide which was worse: the sushi or the service. I'm not overly concerned about customer service, as I've been to Chinese and Korean restaurants where the staff barely engage with you, but the food is so delicious that it doesn’t matter. Unfortunately, the sushi rolls were awful. How do you manage to make a California roll fall apart? My husband even left some of his sushi because the fish didn’t look fresh. I really hope we don’t end up with stomach issues from eating here. I wish I had checked Urbanspoon first. From my experience, if this site rates a restaurant highly, it’s usually good; if not, it often lives up to that rating. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give this place a 1. Stay away!

The sushi here is excellent, and the atmosphere is lovely both indoors and outdoors. The service is quick and attentive, and there's enjoyable live entertainment. Plus, it’s conveniently located near my home. I absolutely love it!

I've lived in the area for years, and this restaurant consistently disappoints. I must be foolish for giving it another chance. On one occasion, my girlfriend and I went to the bar, and the bartender abruptly asked us what we wanted to drink without giving us time to respond before walking away. The sushi is mediocre, so don’t come here expecting anything special—you're better off sticking to some appetizers and a beer, as that seems to be the only thing they manage well. I even tried the ramen once, and it was terrible; the noodles were overcooked. Be prepared for staff that can be quite curt. Someone mentioned they seem like pompous hipsters, and that’s spot on. Moreover, the staff changes frequently, which is never a good sign. Do yourself a favor and drive a few extra miles to go to Sakana instead.

LOVE Squid Ink! This is one of the only non chain restaurants in the area which is refreshing. Additionally, both the sushi and kitchen menu items are on point! I highly recommend trying the chef specials.
