Krispy Krunchy Chicken - Penn Laird

Wasn't this specially impressed with the food. Probably wouldn't eat there again. KFC, even, is a better option.

I used to think Krispy Krunchy Chicken (KKC) was all the same. But then the other day I was at Eastmont Mall just killing time, and went inside the Gazzali's Supermarket to look around. Someone told me the KKC was good here, so I got some to try. I ordered 6-pcs Combo w/ fries and biscuits. Well now, this chicken certainly is CRISPY and Crunchy! It was still crunchy when I got home. They gave me 2 wings, 2 legs, and 2 thighs. Can't really complain. It's kind of weird that wings are considered white meat. Very tasty. Some of the white meat on the small drumstick was a little dry. Biscuits were soft and sweet. The thick fries were soggy. Are they supposed to be crispy? But overall good chicken and good counter service.

The fried chicken is so delicious!!! Definitely has the crunch and so much flavor. Great hole in the wall spot to try out. Great with the sides offered and even great paring the fried chicken with some sticky rice.

I ordered three pieces of mixed chicken and five shrimp. The good news first: the chicken was incredibly crunchy, arguably the crunchiest I’ve ever had, which is crucial for fried chicken. The dark meat was tender and juicy, just as it should be. I also enjoyed the delicately buttered honey biscuit—it hit the spot. Now for the bad: the white meat chicken breast was disappointingly dry, resembling an old chalk eraser. It was a struggle to eat, and I found myself pushing through it only because I had paid for the meal and wanted to get my money’s worth. The seasoning was quite lacking, with little flavor aside from an overpowering amount of salt. The shrimp batter was equally unimpressive; it lacked seasoning and was just a thick, deep-fried coating of flour. And the ugly part? I later realized that I had been overcharged and shorted on my order—just a dollar and one shrimp, but still frustrating. The cashier likely assumed I was a tourist and wouldn't return, but he underestimated my ability to share my experience online, even if I’m not a local.

This place has the best fried chicken in the area! Don’t let the fact that it's located in a gas station deter you—it's very clean and the food is fresh. They also serve momos, which are Himalayan dumplings drenched in a delicious sauce. You definitely have to try them—they're absolutely amazing!
