U Scontru - Patrimonio

Food very good. Good local wines. Staff delightful and helpful. Plenty of parking space. Clean loo's. Rustic. No views.

Easy to find on the road into Patrimonio which is itself a pretty village worth a visit U Scontru has a gentle charm in both its decor and setting there are several table areas both inside and out, and we had a lovely shady table on the terrace for our extended! lunch. The menu presents an extensive range of Corsican specialties, and the staff although unobtrusive are also friendly and very helpful over choices. We decided to take time out from the sun, and each ordered one of the set menus the menu du pecheur and the one which may have been called the menu du chasseur memory fade! and which included an excellent wild boar main course. There was a lot of swapping of dishes, and mutual congratulation on our choices. The swordfish also deserves a special mention a very generous piece, cooked to absolute perfection. We found as we left that there was a coach party in for lunch, and we were very impressed that that had not been apparent in any way they were in a separate function room, and the service and quality of food was excellent from start to finish. A good range too of the local Patrimonio wines, in various sized bottles and by the glass. We have been amazed to find this was one of the cheapest meals we had in our 2 weeks in Corsica. I wish we had been able to go back, the beignets of cheese and of courgette looked wonderful...

It had been a long time since I had not eaten a calf of this quality. Bravo.

Passing through this restaurant we were well received, and enjoyed very good pizza. Also tonight, a very good band was playing the evening. I recommend.
