Bidra med feedbackHaving lived in Paris in the late 90s, Matteo et Paolo was one of my go to anchor places that made me feel at home whenever I returned at least 2 times a year. As soon as I got back into Saint Germain I 'd drop off my bags and head there for my favorite scrambled eggs of all time. When I went last Saturday there was a different vibe and a new menu. When we asked for our oeufs brouillés they said it was impossible to make them even though an omelette was offered on the chalkboard. They had coffee, but couldn 't make a cafe créme??? When we questioned all of this, the server told us it was recently bought by new owners under the same name. We ordered the omelettes and they were inedible, simple disgusting. We left our food and as we were leaving the 2 or 3 servers started to harassed us. My French partner replied with a never again . This is not the Matteo et Paola of the past just a year ago, it was a nice cozy tearoom where you could get simple healthy dishes at any time. Now it is an awful gargote greasy spoon offering junk food at prohibitive prices Just run away!
We stumbled upon this small cafe while strolling the streets of Paris. We knew the bare minimum French, and were able to get buy. While our waitress didn 't speak any English, she was so very sweet. When she came out with my eggs, I could hear her ask the chef in back how to say something in English. When she came out to the table she proudly said fried eggs as she delivered our food. The hot chocolate was delicious. I loved that this place was small and quaint, and just felt very French to me. While we just had breakfast (which was good but it 's breakfast in Paris, can you really mess it up that much? we loved the atmosphere and the restaurant. An excellent way to start our day!
Everyone was great! Food very special. Ate here twice.
