Bidra med feedbackOn Tuesday morning at 8:30 AM, I arrived at Whole Foods in Paramus and waited outside for the store to open at 9 AM. I am nine months pregnant and have diabetes. When I reached the door, a woman there informed me that I could enter early due to my pregnancy. I was grateful and also mentioned that I have diabetes, to which she replied that the early entry policy applies to those with diabetes, as well as the immune-compromised and elderly. I thanked her and went shopping. On my way home, I called Whole Foods to confirm this information, and they assured me that I could enter early because of my diabetes. The next morning, I arrived at the store at 7:30 AM to wait in line for an 8 AM entry. When the doors opened, the manager, who identified himself as KC, told me I could not go in. I explained that I have diabetes and referenced the previous day's conversation with one of his employees. He rudely dismissed me, telling me to leave the line and asserting that my statement was false. Although I stepped back as requested, I explained that I had been waiting in the cold for 30 minutes, and that I received this information from Whole Foods and one of his staff members. He replied that he was the manager and only allowed entry for elderly customers. Then he abruptly shut the gate in front of me as if I were an intruder. I got into my car feeling very upset and embarrassed by his treatment. I called Whole Foods again, and they reiterated that he had to let me in due to my diabetes. Despite my attempts to show him proof, he refused to listen and treated me like a nuisance. My husband, upon hearing how I was treated, took our 4-year-old daughter and confronted KC. He asked KC to allow me to enter and get the necessary items for my diabetes management, but KC declined and told my husband to back off. Feeling disrespected, my husband pointed out how rude and unfair KC was. In response, KC arrogantly asked if my husband knew who he was, stating, "Well, you're about to find out," and then he called the police. We chose to stay and speak with the officers to explain our situation. Three officers and two security guards arrived, and all five of them advised KC that he was in the wrong and needed to respect Whole Foods' policy. While he tried to ingratiate himself with the police, they expressed their disappointment and frustration with his behavior, urging me to take further action. Despite the police's insistence that KC should let me in, he refused, stating that I could not enter the store that day. Before the situation escalated further, my husband and I decided to leave, choosing not to give the store any more of our business. An elderly woman waiting in line even reprimanded the manager, telling him he should be ashamed of himself. We went to Trader Joe's afterward and successfully obtained what we needed. The kind police officers prepared a report for us, which we plan to use to take further action against KC and Whole Foods in Paramus. It is unacceptable to compromise someone's health during a pandemic and treat customers in such a manner. I have documented everything, including photographs and recordings, to ensure that there is no denial of this incident.
This restaurant offers excellent quality and a fantastic selection. The only reason I didn't give it a five-star rating is the pricing. The prepared foods are outstanding. However, this location is better suited for picking up prepared foods rather than traditional grocery shopping since it's located inside a mall, making it a bit inconvenient for food shopping.
Since Amazon acquired Whole Foods, the store has unfortunately declined. It used to be the best place to shop, but now it feels below par. Most of the employees (though not all) rarely smile and often avoid making eye contact when you ask them questions. They frequently run out of stock on various items. While they claim to have lowered prices on produce, many items have actually seen price increases since the takeover. Additionally, the quality of both the produce and meat seems to have decreased significantly.
I decided to try their apples, and I really regret it! There were two large brown spots inside the apple, even though the outside looked fine. Given how much I paid for the Honeycrisps, I am extremely disappointed and disgusted. I just bought these a day ago!
Contacting customer service turned out to be a complete waste of time. The representative, John, from the West Coast office seemed confused about why I had reached out to them and was unsure how to help resolve my issue. I suggested that he check the Yelp review, but he told me he didn't have access to it. Instead, I read the review to him, and his response was, "I guess I can file a report, if you want." Initially, I thought my poor customer service experience was unique to the Paramus location, but after calling the home office, I realized I was mistaken. It's disappointing to see a brand I once held in such high esteem take advantage of its customers due to their overwhelming popularity. I still haven't received any response to my complaint and honestly don’t expect to at this point.
