Gary's Oyster Shack - Panama City

The food was outstanding. I enjoyed half a dozen raw oysters on the half shell and half a dozen baked oysters prepared in a scampi style, along with a salad dressed with ranch. Despite arriving just 30 minutes before closing, the staff remained friendly and attentive. These were the best oysters I've had in a long time. It was the perfect way to kick off my vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida.

I was really excited to try this restaurant based on the reviews, but unfortunately, I ended up with burnt food that lacked any flavor. The fish was also rubbery. I think I would have been better off going to Captain D's. This was a disappointing way to wrap up our vacation, and I won't be returning.

I was quite disappointed with my experience. The cheese grits were cold and had the wrong texture. The biscuit completely fell apart when I tried to pick it up. I’m glad I checked my order, even though the bag was tied and it was a hassle; the staff forgot to include my cinnamon roll. I didn’t eat it because it was cold, so I’ll have to warm it up later when I have the time. Who gives out cold cinnamon rolls, or at least doesn’t offer to heat them up?! On a positive note, the woman at the drive-thru was pleasant. However, I personally won’t be returning, at least not for the drive-thru.

The Smoked Tuna Dip here is absolutely the best in Panama City, FL. It's the perfect accompaniment to the Wonton Chips. On Saturdays after 4 PM, they also offer an All You Can Eat Fried Catfish and Shrimp special. Highly recommend!

I have to say, this place was quite disappointing. The two stars are only for the awesome wonuts, which I'd definitely recommend. Unfortunately, the food itself was subpar. The wings tasted like they had been frozen beforehand, just breaded and then tossed into the fryer. As for the grits, as others have noted, they certainly shouldn't be labeled as cheese grits. A more fitting description might be "sandy, gritty breakfast side." I could only suggest dining here if it's after a storm and this is your only option; perhaps things will improve in the future.
