Bidra med feedbackFirst off let me start by saying staff was great. Friendly and helpful. The inside was nice. I think pics I see were very strategically taken to make it nicer than it really is though. Now to the meat of my review. Most of the food was horrible. I say most because the potato salad was actually pretty good. I can't comment on everything because I got the buffet and most of what I got there I did not like. I actually hate making this review because the people were nice. Unfortunately, being nice doesn't correlate to good food.Today they had the fried catfish and chicken wings. I can say the chicken tasted a bit dry and greasy. Like you'd expect chicken to taste from a grimy road side gas station. The catfish was tough. I did find some enjoyment after heavily dousing it with Louisiana hot sauce. Which I noticed most of the hot sauce containers were almost empty. That made me wonder if others had the same idea I did. The macaroni and cheese could've been good. I think what ruined it for me was the actual smoke taste. I wonder if that's an artificial smoke they put in that. I would suggest not doing it. I think it would be fine without it and a lot of people would enjoy it better. My spouse got the brisket., I can say she didn't think it was terrible but when I tried it, I thought it tasted like canned meat. Again, I hate leaving this review because I did find the service good. The people were nice. What I can say is whoever did the marketing for this place needs to consider a career switch that is if they are working in the restaurant. They had me sold. I drove from downtown just to check this place out. I also told numerous friends and family about it . The pictures make it look like you're gonna be walking into a storefront representing the deep south. You can smell the food through the pictures. The reality though is far from what you imagine I'd like to go back and try again someday and see that they turn it around. It just seems to me that so many people that like to cook don't really take pride in their work. I don't think I'm being overly harsh on this review just honest. The same things I tasted I think the majority of others would agree. I actually saw the table across from our get up and leave because their expectations didn't meet Reality. for these reasons, I give it two stars.
Visit this business today, seen the commercial and sed I would most definitely give it try being black owned and all. First all the set up is not to good, u have to place ur own order and one of the machines is close to the restrooms...not good. waited 41 mins for my food as people that came after me was being serve, requested a refund. My daughters received their food but end up sending their items back twice, would not recommend this establishment..Over all the best part was the young server.
We went for the Sunday Soulfood buffet. The cost was 25 per person. We had a hard time finding a hostess or wait staff to get seated. Most of the tables had reserved signs on them. The website said no reservations for Sunday buffet. Mentioned this and the cashier just stared at my husband with no response. The food seemed liked it was prepared the night before and just warmed up for the buffet. The flavors were not good. Cole slaw had a strange brown color to it. Served cold rolls instead of cornbread. There were no blacked-eyed peas or peach cobbler. They served catfish (it was tough) and fried chicken wings which were cold. The mac-n-cheese had a fake smoked flavor like they added liquid smoke to it. Overall, it was disappointing. The commercial we saw on the food looked delicious. This didn't even seem like the same place. Maybe ordering off the menu is a better choice.
Service was good, buffet can hardly be called a buffet. It had chicken or fish. The drinks that didn't have out of order on them only one worked. Fish and potato salad were good. $18 for for buffet and drink. There were only 8 items to chose from.
I just ate the BBQ Buffet from here and i can confidently say that it was one of if not the biggest rip-offs I 've ever experienced. The food wasn 't bad per say but the selection of food was awful. There were only two proteins total on this 18 dollar buffet, which would make it one of the highest priced buffets in the city i might add. Where for that price most places would offer crab, steak, shrimp, octopus, etc. aka high priced proteins and multiples of them at that. Jonathan 's only offers fried wings and fried fish which you can anywhere. The only other selections at this buffet were green beans, potato salad, sweet potato, and some sort of BBQ noodles. I was expecting there to be actual BBQ, like brisket, ribs, burnt ends, etc. like the abundant signs outside made it seem and like the high price would indicate, but there was no BBQ to be found. Just an 18 dollar buffet with like 8 items total and only two proteins. I didn 't even get full which I do at most buffets, I just tried everything then asked decided it wasn 't for me and left. I am now at home making myself food to actually get full which after coming here, I think i should 've just done that in the first place.
