Bidra med feedbackMy mom and I recently made a reservation at Topkapi (April 20) to use a groupon I purchased for a 4-course meal. The restaurant was small yet cozy, and the food arrived quickly, in fact, we were usually the ones holding up the kitchen. Our meals were delicious with decent portion sizes, except the dessert, which was surprisingly generous, and scrumptious. However, what made our time at Topaki most memorable was the excellent service we received from our waitress, Nadine. She made us feel welcome, despite the fact that Groupon customers bring in less revenue than regular paying customers. She was knowledgeable and helpful. She went out of her way to accommodate another couple who were turned away initially due to fully booked tables; as soon as a table opened up due to a no-show, she called to inform the couple, and she herself was clearly delighted. I definitely plan to return again.
Had a groupon for a 4 course meal and made reservations for 7pm last Sunday evening. Service was friendly and helpful in explaining the different turkish dishes on the menu. We did not find the service slow and our plates were brought in a timely fashion. The appetizer sampler plate was quite tasty with loads of refreshing flavours. The lamb was tender and cooked nicely. As we were finishing dessert just after 9pm a couple and a group of 4 walked in... the waitress greeted and seated them promptly... she hurried to notify the kitchen and came back with a big smile... That's pretty good for Ottawa on a Sunday night!
Went in with a few friends, the place was quite empty! Finally, we ordered our food. It took so long that by the time it arrived one of my friend had to take it to go. We were there a few hours to say the least because of how slow the service was. But this is what baffles us all, we left the restaurant hungry. The portions were small for the price. The atmosphere is nice but wont be returning. Pros: Tasty, Nice Atmosphere Cons: Slow Service, Pricey, Small Portions
I love Turkish food! the flavours are sharp, the ingredients are allowed to shine. ... But what they serve at Topkapi is a poor substitute for Istanbul's rich culinary culrure. The food was cold and every dish tasted like the last as if everything had been flavoured with the same homogenous marinade. This, combined with service that lacks any of the graciousness of a true Turkish host, make the experience underwhelming.
Everything is great! Food, service, and atmosphere. Packed on a Wednesday night, that's got to tell you something!
