Al Caminetto - ORVIETO

Found this place by accident late one night. Although it was quiet only a few people eating the service was excellent the food was good enough and the price was super reasonable.

We checked in late at the hotel but confirmed before arrival that the restaurant would be open and it was. We were the only customers. The menu was actually quite varied a lot of pasta and fish dishes. We had pasta alla Norcina it was good. The house red was drinkable. We found the waiter to be pleasant and friendly, but the atmosphere is almost non existent. Overall, convenient if you're staying in the hotel or close to it, but if you're staying up in hilltop Orvieto, don't make the trip down just for this one.

Ate here for lunch once and dinner 3 times as we stayed at the adjacent hotel and it was convenient. The risotto was good, a veal dish was good and one of the pasta dishes I had was good. BUT other pasta dishes were miserable. One was supposed to come with truffles and there were none. Another the gravy was the worst I have ever had in Italy. The bread was actually tasteless, also to be put in the worst ever in Italy category. The affogato dessert, so good elsewhere was horrific. Just plain awful. I guess I expected too much. Beware the flies during lunch too. The TV in the adjacent room was always too loud. Service barely adequate, they give you your food and never come back until you are done. Prices as expected but you can get much better good for the same prices up above in Orvieto town. I should have eaten the pizza at half the price. Never again.

Fast lunch just arrived in Orvieto ... Simple but welcoming environment, very friendly service, excellent cuisine.

Is a good restaurant with local dishes very tasty. Specialized in grilled meat and first with local sauces. Friendly staff and content prices
