Bidra med feedbackSo disappointed this long standing restaurant is on its way out with the sale of the property. We had many great years enjoying this icon property hoping it will not lose its long standing high marks.
The hotel is beautiful and a great location. The restaurant is less to be desired. We waited forever to get our food and it was not even good eggs cooked wrong and some of it was ice cold. They also forgot to make my son’s meal. The waitress was very unfriendly. When we asked about my son’s food, she said that the cook was making it and it would be done when it was done. I guess you don’t have to be nice when 20% Gratuity is added automatically. She definitely did not deserve that 20%. Worst service ever.
Stayed at Dunes Manor and that is a great hotel, but ate at this restaurant for breakfast before leaving and it was terrible. For one, we waited to be seated for ten minutes while several employees saw us and kept it moving. I ordered eggs and scrapple, where the eggs were slightly overcooked but edible (they're eggs) but the scrape was soggy as hell and disgusting. Waste of money.
My wife and I stay at the Dunes Suites hotel once a year, fall or summer. We have always enjoyed breakfast and dinner in the Victorian Room restaurant. The open deck rocking chairs are nice for a pre dinner cocktail. The food has always been good, plenty, and not too expensive for a vacation town. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended.
I'll start with the pros: the space is beautiful and it is a great place to sit and enjoy the ocean views. Our server, Cookie, was very friendly and helpful and the blue crab dip and corn and crab bisque were delicious (though the soup should have been hotter). Prices are relatively reasonable.Now the cons: they now have a policy that they will not serve alcohol to anyone without an ID, no matter what, even if you are 80. For a nice restaurant, I thought getting our wine in plastic cups is a really tacky choice. Most importantly, the entrees were horrible. No seasoning on the salmon, burnt and tough brussel sprouts, completely over cooked filets, overcooked, flavorless broccolini. Salmon was overcooked as well and had a burned flavor in parts. We honestly could not believe how poorly cooked everything was. Hope they were just having a bad night...
