Bidra med feedbackWe stopped off before going to the beach. Very grumpy waitress who was annoyed because we wanted to sit at a table that had just been vacated so she hadn’t cleaned it. We ordered 2 coffees, 1 hot chocolate and a cheese sandwich. The sandwich was very poor, it cost £20.60. It was way too much. I wouldn’t go back.
We passed this little gem on our way to visiting the seals. An absolutely delightful retro cafe/restaurant/gift shop based on 1930s/1940s. So many wonderful artefacts and attention to detail both inside and outside. Lovely food, great service and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit.
I love Poppylands. The food. The cakes . My husband and I have visited several times over the last few years, but we haven't been for a while. Luckily we booked and were shown to out table. They were busy, but we were left for at least 20 minutes before anyone took our orders. The wait for the food was ok, but we were asked to pay there and then. I get that. Obviously people leave without paying etc, but my husband wanted to order a slice of toast to go with his breakfast. Ordinarily he would've done, but didn't want to put a tiny amount on his card (cards only . I had bubble and squeak. To me that has to be fried so it has an almost crunchy top. This was just mash with cold (straight out of the freezer? veg in it. I should've sent it back, but I was hungry and don't like making a fuss! We always get a slice of cake to take home when we pay, but we're told to sit down and wait for somebody to take our order. When know one came after 5-10minutes we left. If we did that how many other people have. I know 2 slices of cake aren't going to be much of a profit, but that soon adds up to a fair bit of money lost. We walked out. No cake!! Getting bigger doesn't necessarily mean getting better. Having said that Poppylands is still a Norfolk gem. Quirky and wonderful, but please let us buy a slice of cake at the till!
Superb afternoon tea today, a belated Christmas present. Service excellent and food provided was fresh and plentiful. Doggie boxes to take home as too much to eat in one sitting. Cannot fault Poppylands in any way, you should be very proud of all you have achieved. Certainly worth a visit
Very very disappointed that drove all the way from downham market to find poppylands closed! Thing is, we checked the website before we left home it clearly said open! Please please keep your social media up to date. Going all the way home hungry
