Bidra med feedbackI went to Regent Thai with a group of friends. We decided to order a variety of meat, seafood, and vegetarian dishes to share. The portions were generous and reasonably priced, and every dish was delicious. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We definitely plan on coming back to dine here again!
While strolling along O'Connell Street in search of a place to eat, we came across this restaurant with its fresh, clean appearance and straightforward menu. The dishes were well presented and tasty. It's a good idea to make a reservation on busy nights, and parking can be difficult during peak hours. Overall, we highly recommend this restaurant.
We made a reservation over a month in advance, but when we arrived, there was no table ready for us. They hastily set up another table near the takeaway pickup area. After finally getting a waiter's attention to place our order, only 2 out of the 3 entrees we ordered were brought out. The missing dish came out cold, indicating it had been waiting in the kitchen. Our main courses were even more disappointing, with one arriving first and the other two coming almost 10 minutes later. One dish was still missing until we reminded them. Desserts came out smoothly, but only one coffee was served despite ordering multiple. We eventually asked for the bill after being left waiting for quite some time. Unfortunately, we were the last customers in the restaurant and had to ask for the bill a second time. It seemed as though we could have left without anyone noticing. Hopefully, they take more notice of this review and improve their service.
The waiter highlighted multiple times the fact I only ordered a main, in front of my family insinuating that I was cheap for not ordering an entree. As someone who was trying to enjoy a family occasion and is struggling financially, I didn't appreciate the attention the waiter draw towards me. It also took 20-30mins to make a coffee and hot chocolate and they spilt the coffee whilst serving it. Overall a disapointing experience. Will not be returning.
Came here many, many years ago, so was looking forward to finally returning, and it was also recommended recently. I understand, the restaurant has been set out for COVID restrictions and spacing requirements., and though a full house, lacked atmosphere. This could be because the lady who seated us and served us, was rushing so much, so much so, as she rushed through the drinks, then told us to look in the menu and she would come back for our drinks order. It took us all of another 15 seconds to find the drinks and make a choice. This in turn all made us feel very rushed. Either they needed an extra staff member or they wanted our turn over as quickly as possible. We ordered a Tom yum soup to share. Followed by a green chicken curry (always our go to choice) and the red duck curry on their recommendation. Dishes all came out rather quickly. We did not get the fresh kick from any of the dishes. The red curry was a tad on the sweet side, and even the green did not quite hit the spot. If we didn’t know any better, We would presume that the base flavours are made from pre purchased catering packs rather than freshly made. In sorry if this is not true, it’s just the impression I was left with. All in all well priced, if you are after a quick, passable meal. But don’t have high expectations if you are after a romantic or relaxed fresh and authentic Thai dining experience.
