This review is based solely on today 's visit. This is normally a go to spot for great food and drinks, amazing waitstaff and friendly hostesses. Today was not that day. We were met by a hostess that ask how many.. not the usual Welcome to black bird ... we were sat very quickly and our waiter came over after about 5 minutes and got the drink order, we ordered our apps and entree 's and another round of drinks. The apps came out in about 15 minutes and were good. I ordered the duck (which I usually highly recommend! and the wife got the chicken pizza . I ask for the duck rare and to cook the skin a little crispy. When the entrees finally came out, you can tell they have need sitting under the heat lamp a while. My duck came out well done and the skin was rubbery. Wife 's pizza was way overcooked and the chicken on it was hard, like a rock hard... we brought it to the waiters attention, when we could finally pry him away from sitting down at his friends table, pointed out the over cook on everything... his reply, well, they did their best! Really? Not oh man, let me have them fix it. He then walked away and sat back down at his buddies table. I had to get up and go to the bar to order a glass of wine, he couldn 't be bothered. We finished our drinks and took everything to go ... gave it to the dog... very disappointed with the service and food today.

You can enjoy some good English pub food at this restaurant. I think all your menu items are fairly priced here and the comfort food is enjoyable. I had the bangers and mash and was happy with my order. The sausages were grilled perfectly and the mashed potatoes were well whipped and tasty. There can sometimes be a wait here on the weekends, but it's a good option right around OUs campus.
