Legrand Kitchen - Norfolk

Best restaurant in Norfolk/Hampton Roads by a mile, and perhaps my favorite in the country. Truly great every time. Whether you want something like their legendary (and inexpensive! burger, or the braised short rib, or my favorite the fresh catch and Parisian gnocchi, it's guaranteed to be great. Do not leave without ordering the toffee cornbread pudding.

We finally got to visit the new location (Granby St just before the Riverview bridge) and we love the space. The inside is upscale casual with some cool eccentric pieces (like an elk horn chandelier). We sat in the bar area at a high top. We were near the kitchen and no issues with smoke or noise levels. Our servers were great and made sure to be considerate about their recommendations and pairing options. We started with the shishito peppers and tuna Crudo. Both were on the daily special menu and did not disappoint. The shishitos came with a deviled dipping sauce that was fantastic. For entrees we go the Butchers Cut (NY strip) and the Braised Short Ribs with elote veggies. The only thing I would change is adding a less salty side with the braised short ribs and elote veggies, it was delicious but a bit over salted. For dessert we got the corn pudding and it was insane! Not too sweet with a big dollop of whipped creme *chefs kiss* We can't wait to come back!

I wish I could eat here every night. I have never had less than an excellent meal at LeGrand and I've been going for every special occasion (birthday, promotions, etc) since I moved to Norfolk 5 years ago. I love the new location, too. The service is great and I find the new look relaxing and inviting. I'm excited to bring my kids soon to try the new kids menu.

This restaurant is the best ever. Even though it's not located in Chicago or New York, I guarantee that if it were, they would be very successful. The menu is incredibly fresh, the drink options at the new location are great, and I have no doubt that their burger is the best in the universe. I have tried Au Cheval in Chicago, and I still think this restaurant is better. Make sure to support them as much as you can - they may be a small market star but they have the skills of a big city restaurant.

Love their new location in Riverview. The food is always very good, even takeout. More room inside for drinking cocktails. Stop in!
