Le Gourmand - Newtown

Still deciding between the croissants here and at oh my days, will need to go to both a couple dozen times to be really sure!

We were in Newtown for a couple of nights and came here both days to pick up some of the amazing vegan pastries. We had the cinnamon and plain croissants, the pan au choc and the cheese croissant- all were excellent! We also couldn’t resist trying the vegan macarons (which were also delicious), chocolate mouse, and buying a selection of deli items (house made salami and mushroom pate and the Delectio blue cheese) which we can’t wait to try. We had also planned to go to La Petite Fauxmagerie next door but unfortunately it was shut as they were at the vegan markets…luckily Le Gourmand stocked some of the vegan cheeses so we could get some from there too! Selling beautiful and delicious macarons, croissants, gelato, French mustards, faux gras. We combined two of these, the gelato and a large macaron, to enjoy a great take on the icecream sandwich.

We got 5 macarons and a pain au chocolat to take away. The macaroons all had different flavours and there was quite a choice. Lamington was one of my favourites. I liked the pastry too.

This place is super cute. The almond croissant is out of this world. It’s got actual authentic filling not just custard like most places do. My boyfriend is French and said it was is legit!
