Drinks More - Newtown

This is the best place to get k-cups; prices are competitive and it's nice to support local biz. The owner is so nice and she makes THE ABSOLUTE BEST frozen mocha coffee that blows away W*wa and St*rbucks' drinks. She sells Girl Scout cookies, too, btw.

As I scanned the drink options, I decided to order a small cold coffee drink. The product that most closely matched my interest was a cold coffee latte. The person taking the order offered several options, including vanilla, caramel and another option. I ordered a small cold coffee latte with caramel. I quickly scanned the prices under the “Small” column. Everything appeared to be under $3.00. When the server presented the small cold coffee latte with caramel, and announced the price of $3.75, I handed her $3.00, as that was the amount I had in hand, and again, looked at the price list with a bit of confusion. I recall confirming with the server that the size was small (the large container was $5). The server said, “you just gave me $3.00; the cost is $3.75.” I believe I had gotten out part of a sentence explaining that I was confused, based on the price list. Before I could complete the sentence and peel off another dollar, the server exasperatedly exclaimed, “Forget it!”, and walked away, apparently in anger. Surprised at such an intense and unprofessional response I was already placing the fourth dollar on the counter. The seller refused to accept it, while apparently, still fuming. Another seller watched this stunning exchange and gave me an embarrassed smile, and an unbelieving look. I picked up the drink and, to the second server, said, “thank you” and “Happy Holidays”, and walked away in disbelief at what I just witnessed. It was an upsetting episode in the Newtown Farmers Market, which has, heretofore, always offered a pleasurable experience. The extent to which I gave two stars was based on the quality of the drink, which was tasty, if half filled with ice.

I buy my coffee beans here. When I first went, they did not have what I wanted (hazelnut decaf), so the lovely lady who runs the place recommended another flavor that we simply love (amaretto decaf). Now I buy it every month, and she always recognizes me and knows what I want. Expensive, yes, but fine quality and not something I can get anywhere else.
