Picnic Portuguese Bbq - Newark

The food is consistently great, but I sometimes end up with the wrong dessert.

The restaurant offers generous portions suitable for two or three people, delicious flavors, and reasonable prices. While it may not be upscale, it is clean and well-organized. I definitely recommend it!

This was my first experience ordering from this restaurant, and I was eager to try it given the high ratings. I opted for delivery, which was prompt and accurate. We received platters of chicken, ribs, and salmon, each served with yellow rice and sides. Personally, I preferred the ribs the most; however, I found bones in the salmon and would have liked the chicken to have a bit more crispiness or char, as it seemed slightly undercooked. Overall, the food was just okay—nothing exceptional. While the meats were fine, the sides were not of good quality. They had a somewhat stale taste (we had yucca, plantain, beans, and vegetables). The fried items, in particular, tasted like they had been sitting out for a while or cooked in old oil. There are several other Brazilian BBQ places nearby that I believe taste similar or better, so for me, it’s not worth the trip to Newark for this. On a positive note, I do think the price is reasonable, and we managed to feed nine people with the three whole trays we ordered.

Absolutely delicious! Perfectly cooked, not overly seasoned, hot and fresh. I had the pork steak, and I can't wait to come back and try something else. The house made hot sauce is the best I've ever tasted. Highly recommended.
