Bidra med feedbackI was downtown because a friend had recommended a hip new Thai place. But when I arrived the music was deafening, the seating even at the bar gave one no room to move, the wait was endless—they took reservation, but not from single diners—and treatment I got from the hostess reeked of 'tude. So I left, and looked for other options on OpenTable. A couple blocks away, I from Ciao. They welcome diners in any number. The had a mix of jazz and pop playing at a level that didn 't suggest you would leave the place without your hearing or your sanity. There was a pleasant view of the passing scene—and a soccer match on the big screen. The staff acted as if they were pleased I was there. And I spent a couple happy hours over an authentic Italian meal. It was glorious. So, if you want a good meal in a pleasant atmosphere, Ciao is that the place. Don 't miss the Tiramisu!
My friends and I had a delicious lunch at this little gem in the heart of Little Italy. We were greeted upon arrival and we were immediately seated. The staff is very friendly and service was on point. I recommend this place if you're looking for good traditional italian dishes as well as an inexpensive and casual dining experience. I will definitely be back here on my next visit to NYC.
The Open Table review process forced me to put a number of stars. I really can't comment on Ciao because when we arrived they told us that they didn't have any tables for a party of 4. The dining room was packed, so there was no point in making a fuss about the fact that we had a reservation because there was nowhere to sit. There was a table available for a party of 6, but they wouldn't break it into a 4 and a 2, so basically our OpenTable reservation was worthless.
We were there during the huge festival in Little Italy so I'm not sure it was indicative of a normal Saturday night. Food was great, service was hurried but very professional and friendly. Ambiance was tough as we were seated outside the bathroom and, due to the festival, there was a constant line at the bathroom that ran right next to our table all night.
Great if you like tourist traps with non existant service.
