Bidra med feedbackWe had the Halibut, the more expensive fish, and at $19.99 it should have been quality. It was not. My friend had the deep fried halibut and chips, and it was just- ok tasting. Small piece of fish, small amount of fries, coleslaw didn't look good, butwas ok. I had the grilled halibut, it was a thin slice, overcooked, resulting in a chewy texture. The Greek salad was fine. Difficult to ruin that. Service was good, but then there was no one else in the restaurant. No surpise as quality of food ispoor.
Halibut fish was very greasy and extremely fishy tasting is one of 2 things. Old fish or not halibut. Batter is not lightly battered but thick and hard on out side and uncooked on inside. Fries like Fish were greasy and tasted like old grease. Lot ofmoney paid for poor food quality. Thought first time there was just a bad night but second times clearly tells you not to goback.
Sometimes this restaurant offers coupons in the local newspaper, which my husband and I take advantage of for a buy one get one free grand slam breakfast. The food is excellent!
I ordered fries for takeout and have previously had fresh-cut homemade fries from the Orangeville location. Unfortunately, the fries from the Alliston location didn't live up to that standard. They tasted okay but didn't seem fresh-cut, and at $6, they weren't worth it. None of the pieces had any potato skins, and it looked like they had been frozen in the fryer basket before being cooked in oil. If I’m looking for fresh-cut fries in the future, I’ll head over to Swiss Chalet or the Chip Store by Home Hardware. It's frustrating when franchises cut corners like this. The previous owners of the Swiss Chalet in Orangeville used to do the same thing, serving frozen fries instead of fresh-cut.
During our visit from Nova Scotia, we enjoyed some fantastic fish and chips! The prices were quite reasonable. This cook could easily find a job on the East Coast without much trouble! Thank you!
