Rouses is the main grocery store in the area. It's conveniently located just down the street from me, making it easy to stop by and grab what I need. While the selection is somewhat limited, they do carry the essentials. The aisles are narrow, and occasionally the checkout line can be lengthy. The friendliness of the cashiers varies; some are warm and welcoming, while others can be less so, depending on the day.
It’s a nice place with what I was looking for. It was slightly cramped to navigate, but I didn't stay too long.
Great market, clean and they sell cooked boudin. We were visiting from California staying in a hotel so we were in heaven when we heard they sell it cooked. We went two days in a row to eat lunch there. Service was good as well, everyone was helpful.
If you're in the French Quarter and need a quick grocery run, Rouses is solid. They have all the classics and then some NOLA stuff as well. I stepped into Rouses to look for a very particular kind of Zapps chips. They had multiple bags of it the first time, but when I returned a week later, they didn't have it anymore, so it's a hit or miss for that. Staff here are super nice, but the lines are definitely a bit weird. Each cashier has their own individual line, which always makes some people grumble in annoyance when they have been waiting on one single line, only to see others skip them to the other open line. There's a Rouses roughly 15 minutes away from the FQ that's a bit more in a residential area, but it's much bigger and if you're like me looking for the Sweet Creole Onion version of Zapps, they have it and then some.
