Pleasantly surprised at the quality and impressive amount of art from around the world, at this gallery. From ancient art to modern art, Yale did not disappoint. I was excited to see paintings from Monet, Picasso, and many other famous artists. It's free to visit, so go and check it out! Parking is available in local private garages or on the street.
Oh my goodness, what a spectacular gallery! 5 floors of varied but very interesting exhibits, ancient sculptures, paintings, old currency and coins, provocative images, and descriptions well done and on-point. Super clean, cool, fresh, bright, spacious rooms. Very friendly (and numerous) security folks walking around. Large bags stored in gratis lockers upon entrance. Free! WCs are numerous, big, clean, bright, and well maintained.Clearly, the exhibits are all donated from Yale alumni over the decades (centuries). Of course, how Yale alumni got possession of ancient Greek sculptures, well, another story. Also very good, lots of comfortable seating and benches, which help you rest, to explore a bit more. The place is very big. Count on 2-3 hours to see if all.Definitely if visiting the Yale campus, take a tour through this museum, and be impressed.
This art gallery is an absolute treasure trove for art enthusiasts and culture aficionados. From the moment you step through its doors, you are transported into a world of artistic marvels and captivating stories. The first thing that struck me upon entering the Yale Art Gallery was the stunning architecture. The gallery spaces are thoughtfully laid out, allowing visitors to navigate through the exhibits with ease. The natural light that floods the galleries creates an enchanting ambiance, enhancing the viewing experience. Last but not the least, the collection housed within the Yale Art Gallery is nothing short of extraordinary. Spanning a vast range of periods, styles, and mediums, the artworks on display showcase the evolution of human artistic expression.
Amazing place. I rode my bike over and locked it at the bike rack outside of the art gallery entrance. Entrance is free and they have free lockers to store your backpack and water bottle, it is an art gallery after all.It was truly wonderful seeing ancient artifacts including statues, pottery, currency, and mosaics. I only got through 3 exhibits before I left and I'm excited to return to see the remainder.I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area.
