Tandoor Rest Payphone - New Haven

If I could give this place more stars I would. This restaurant has amazing customer service. Everyone was super friendly and greeted my family as soon as we entered the building. They constantly checked up to make sure we were at full potential satisfaction. The food….AMAZING if I could eat here everyday I would. Although every single item I have tried has been to die for my go to is: mango lassi, samosa balls, tika kabab masala, and finally the homemade naan<3 10/10 recommendation for authentic Indian comfort food.

This might sound weird, but what I really liked was on the way to the restroom I saw the employees hand wiping down to utensils, that's a big pet peeve of mine is dirty utensils. We went there for lunch, the lunch portions where you get to pick your own protein sauce and appetizers was a decent portion, a perfect portion. I chose the chicken with tikka masala and the fried potato balls, my daughter had the chickpea salad and paneer with tikka masala sauce and my wife had lamb with sag sauce. Like someone else said, the drinks are great I mean the cocktails. But even my daughter had a mango Lassie and she said it was very good. If you're in the area, and you have a craving, this is a must visit no doubt.

I ordered to go right before they closed because I was out of work late. I ended up not being able to make it because I work retail and we had a last minute customer and had to stay late at work. The restaurant was about to close and I asked them if they could leave it outside so I could pick it up after they closed. Instead, they brought it directly to my work for me, even though it was a pickup. This is hands down the best experience I have ever had with any restaurant. Plus, their food is GREAT! If I could give them more than five stars, I would. Amazing.

Super friendly staff! Outstanding naan bread! Inexpensive, incredible food! Great chicken korma! We were running late for a show at Yale Repertory Theater and they held onto our food and warmed it up for us after the show would definitely recommend! Five stars! Not sure why this place is rated 3.9 Stars should be higher

Tandoor is the only restaurant offering an Indian buffet around Yale! I had hoped for a bigger spread of items but still I am happy to finally see an Indian Buffet! Food was good! But again a wider selection would have been great and justified the buffet price!
