Chacra Peruvian Cuisine New Haven

Coming in from a long flight, this little space was right across from our Hotel, and upon reading on the website the history and unique dishes, we decide to stop in and try it. I was not disappointed, our server gave us three spectacular recommendations, ceviche mixto, veal heart anticuchos and lomo saltado, and they were all some of the most delicious Peruvian dishes I've had the opportunity to try this far. The drinks were great as well, which is always a bonus in my book! The decor was my style as well and stunning. Been dying to try good Peruvian food in the area and I’m still looking. The food was okay. Anticuchos were cold and the rest was lukewarm. Lomo saltado and pollo were dry. Flavor was good though. Arroz Chaufa was very bland. Service was a mixed bag. The host seemed really busy and our first waitress seemed like we were bothering her by being there. She got two of our items wrong. The second waitress was very kind and helpful. But nobody checked on us during our meal. We went during restaurant week and the deals were okay. Decent price. I’ve been avoiding this place because their prices are ridiculous. My dad is from Callao and I have family from Lima. They burst out laughing when I told them a place near me is trying to sell Lomo Saltado for $35. Insanity. There are no good Peruvian spots in the area, but you can get the same quality of food for much cheaper in West Haven or East Haven. Portions sizes were great though. Not too much not too little.

Excellent, first time experience here. The food is absolutely incredible and very authentic. We ordered 3 entrees between the 2 of us and all 3 were exceptional. The happy hour margaritas were fantastic as well. Our waiter happened to be the owner a well. A very pleasant and lovely fellow. Highly recommended. We'll be back soon enough.

My husband and I had a date night at Chacra we had such a lovely time! The service was excellent, the drinks were great the food was so tasty. We will absolutely be back, what a great experience! Highly recommend!
