Umi Sushi Express - Nanaimo

For my birthday meal, I ordered a special dish with an extra dynamite roll for pickup. When I arrived to pick it up, the staff made me feel special, with one lady even drawing a beautiful birthday cake on the outside of the bag. Everyone working there was friendly and the food was delicious. I have visited this restaurant multiple times and have never been disappointed.

This is one of my favorite oil food place, especially when I visit other cities. I usually command the beef-bento box, and that was by far the worst I ever had. The meat was super fat, and the tempura was really thick. Not with... all that I expected or generally received from the others.

I recently ordered a beef bento box. The California rolls were not good, the tempura was overcooked and had a hard crust, and the broccoli seemed old. I did not eat them. The rice with the beef and vegetables, along with the small salad, were the only good parts of the meal. It was not great, but at least it was edible. I do not plan on returning to this restaurant. The staff were friendly.

I had a late lunch at the Woodgrove Mall Food Court. The Yam fries were excellent and I decided to try the sushi. It was decent for a quick meal, similar to sushi from a store but not quite up to par with the quality of a local restaurant. However, the Yam fries were as good as advertised.

We stopped at the mall quick for a couple things and grabbed a roll and bowl. Both were some of the worst food I've eaten. Stick to one of the chains.
