Thai-lao - Myrtle Beach

Thai Lao is conveniently located within a 5-minute walk from the Myrtle Beach activity area. The restaurant features a lovely interior that captures the essence of Thai culture. The extensive menu offers a wide range of well-known and popular Thai dishes. We began our meal with the Tom Yum soup with seafood, which was fantastic—definitely my favorite dish of the night. The Pad Woo Sen and calamari were also excellent. However, the appetizer sampler was a bit disappointing; I expected the items to be better. The waitstaff were outstanding, providing friendly and attentive service, and our dishes were served promptly. Overall, Thai Lao is a great place for a family meal. They offer vegetarian options, including appetizers, salads, soups, and entrees. Parking is plentiful in the area, and street parking is free after meter hours.

Additionally, the quality of the food was inconsistent. The Nam Sod was flavorful and generous but far too spicy due to an overwhelming amount of chili paste. The chicken satay was dry, likely reheated, and the Lao spare ribs appeared to be the same; we received seven small, dry, and underseasoned ribs, with some containing more fat than meat. The Pla Khung had only about five tiny shrimp; while the flavor was decent, it was again excessively spicy to the point of being numbing. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

This charming little Thai restaurant in the neighborhood is truly authentic. Everything on the menu is incredible! If you're looking to experience genuine Thai flavors that will delight your taste buds, this is the place to go. We tried the wonton soup, the sampler platter, and the fried rice, and all of them were outstanding.

Their food and service are amazing. They just need to update their interior because it's weird that they use picnic patterns. It's affecting their profits. They just need to invest in a little paint and table coverings. Their Thai food is so authentic! It's my favorite.

We had visited a few years ago and had a wonderful customer service experience, and delicious food. We were in town for the holiday weekend and had to come back. It was wonderful yet again. I would not hesitate going back again.
