Soundside - Morehead City

One of the best meals I've had since living here! Fresh catch of the day, red snapper, blackened. Served with jasmine rice, black bean and corn salad, and the best chimichurri. So great! Solid wine list with fair prices.

Sound Side is a place I have had on my list of places to dine when visiting Morehead as did my friends who have a family vacation home on Bogue Sound. We made a reservation for dinner for Saturday night (reservations are required due to the smaller space and its popularity). We arrived on time and were welcomed with a great North Carolina welcome and were seated to a table already prepared for our party of three. Our server (Elijah) greeted us and reviewed the menu with us indicating that one side were the basic regulars items while the other side was their weekly featured items. She also indicated that the steaks were hand cut and grilled over real charcoal. The ambience was very nice and very comforting providing a nice atmosphere for either a family or a date night. All of the staff that we encountered were very helpful and friendly and not afraid to assist with questions or suggestions. We started with two of us having a glass of wine along with all three of us ordering Caesar Salads which came out and were very tasty at which point we then ordered our entree. All three of us decided to go with the filet and all three with different temperatures, medium rare, medium and medium well. They all three came out perfectly cooked and a great seasoned outside. My friend who was with us and who is a steak connoisseur even indicated that this was one of the best steaks he has had in a long time. After dinner, we chose to get deserts, two of us having Peach Cobbler and one with their French Toast Bread Pudding. Each of us were perfectly happy with our desserts that we chose. Overall, it exceeded our expectations and the decision was made that it would become a regular place when visiting. Please give it a try and decide for yourself. I can be honest to say that some of the previous reviews may make one stray away from Sound Side but I can tell you that you should make the call yourself and give it a try!!

Food was excellent but the staff was even more amazing!!

It was very good. I had a blackened Maui wrap, Maui was cooked just right very good taste. A little pricey, but, worth it. Great service!
