Bidra med feedbackWe ate two dishes of traditional Tuscan food; tortellini with broth and veal with prosciutto and Gorgonzola. Both were very tasty and the service was excellent.
First up, there is no menu, there never is. No wine list either. The choice is whatever the chef decides to offer that day and if you are not an Italian speaker, you will need to navigate your options with the very obliging maitre d' In a region where tradition can sometimes stifle gastronomic creativity, Ponterosso defies convention to offer combinations of ingredients that seem improbable bed fellows such as strawberries and coffee with pasta dishes and which, against the odds, usually (if not always) play well together. We turned up without a reservation on Independence Day and were delighted to get one of the few remaining tables in a restaurant refreshingly lacking international tourists; my point being that this is a popular destination for Italian families. We had a great meal; service was competent and wines were the right side of light for lunch on a hot day. Of course, not all the experimentation hits the mark but this resaurant offers a great opportunity to join the chef in trying something different.
I had dinner at the ponte rosso on the occasion of chef massimo 's 50th birthday. menu was amazing (tortellini with wild berries, risotto with mushrooms and cherries, basil sorbetto... . the place is amazingly nice and true to the bone, chef massimo one of the most imaginative in the whole bologna region. definetly 5 stars!!
Ponterosso is to me the most aamzing restuarant around Bologna. Chef massimo has an incredible sense for experimenting out of the incredible foundations of bolognese and regional cuisine. This without considering his incredible charisma. for anybody having time a visit to ponterosso is highly reccomended...
Tv chef but with a great sense of humour and always available to come to table and chat. Fantastic food from soups to desserts and everything in between. All traditional and mainly locally produced it is a privilege to eat and enjoy the music and ambiance here, great service from all staff thank you
