Bottega Sicula - Modica

We entered this place as we wanted to eat relatively late (it was around 3 pm), and it was hot and most places already closed. The place looked nice from the outside, and we wanted somewhere air conditioned. Although we were told that inside was fully air conditioned, the AC clearly was not working, since all it could do was make a load of noise and not reduce the temperature by any meaningful amount. Why didn't we walk out? Because they only switched on the air conditioner when we walked in, so we assumed the place would cool down. We were charged 8 euro for a plate of cannelloni the only pasta they had, even though the menu had several options. We were not told this in advance. Although outside the restaurant advertises authentic Sicilian food, we were left with a piece of ricotta and spinach cannelloni from a counter, carelessly microwaved. It was tasteless, and the highlight was the salt and EVOO on the table the only thing that could give it any flavour. Maybe because of the time, other menu options were not available? But we should have been warned of this. To me, the place looks to be a tourist trap, and I would avoid if I wanted to taste anything that's actually traditional Sicilian. I know, since I've visited many times, that microwaved cannelloni isn't it.

We ordered two salads and it took more than 45 minutes. After that time we asked for the plates and they were not ready. Finally we decided to leave. Furthermore they ask for the Green pass if you want to eat inside. Not recommended at all.

Had dinner with family and friends. Nice menu with inspiring dishes. I had the pasta with shrimp which was fine but the combo of dadrino and pistachio didn’t make it for me. My point of criticism is that our 8 dishes arrived at 5 different times which didn’t make the dinner that pleasant feel you want with friends. Service wasn’t particularly service minded. But never rude or arrogant. I will not return.

For a fast and good meal and the perfect place: the center offers various dishes from the first to the sandwiches, I would say very good, very good service, nice local and prices on average. excellent choice
