Brown Loe - Missouri

We ate lunch at Brown Loe one noontime on our Kansas City tour before we visited the Steamboat Museum. We had a pleasant lunch at this longtime KC eatery.

Brown Loe offers a great menu with a variety of different options, including vegetarian options. My favorite thing about this restaurant is the atmosphere. This used to be a bank at one point and that's clearly evident with the vault-style doorways. There is even a room that you can dine in with a small party that I believe was a safety deposit box room! Usually one of our favorite spots in town but we were extremely underwhelmed by our food for the first time ever. Nothing had any seasoning on it, steak had no sear, veggies undercooked, etc. Didn’t say anything to the wait staff (who were amazing) because it was very busy and they aren’t the ones that cooked it so leaving a review instead.

Why on earth do the chicken and waffles come on a bed of kale? Even a side waffle (actually 3/4 a waffle for some reason) has kale under it. Who thought anyone wants that? Also the white sauce on the chicken and waffles tastes like mayonnaise and is gross. Easily the worst chicken and waffles I've ever had. If you are getting breakfast just get the classic breakfast, everything else had odd choices.
