The Wilcox Gastropub: Takeout, Delivery And Dine-in

Honestly, was not expecting the place to be this good! The food, service and ambience, loved it! We tried the bang bang shrimp, truffle fries , spicy fried chicken, mushroom chaufa and duck chaufa. The Wilcox brew beer on tap is really nice as well. Would definitely recommend this place.

We just had the pleasure of eating at The Wilcox for the first time and I am pleasantly surprised! One of the many regrets of being a Chef is not living long enough to enjoy all of the great restaurants throughout the world. This one has always found a way to slip out of my plans or under the radar on a night out. Please don't make that mistake and come eat here! The restaurant itself is gorgeous and has that gastropub (wood+Iron) motif and the menu is very reminiscent of a true gastro pub and the fare matches beautifully. The flavors are fresh and the plating is vibrant and clean. The service was also extremely friendly and knowledgeable while offering some great suggestions. I definitely recommend bringing the family or attending for a nice romantic night out. Thanks Wilcox for a fantastic time and a great meal!

We go there for food a lot, but I guess the servers don’t quite get that we are there for food so they kept seating us to smaller tables every time we went there, which we end up rushing to finish the foods so the new plates would fit in.Their octopus is the best one on their menu, and is the best grilled octopus in GTA. I have tried octopus at different places, but it was never as good as Wilcox’s. The sourness of the salad and the sweetness of the yam purée finely tunes the flavor of the octopus. I would say this one is a must try.Duck Chaufa and lobster roll are the other two dishes that we order 90% of the time we go. These two are pretty good too. The duck chaufa is a fusion one with fresh duck confit but Chinese bacon fried rice, but it was surprisingly good.We have also tried their jerk chicken, fish&chips, ribs, tacos and so on. We didn’t like their ribs and tacos much, so not going to order those again. The ribs were baby ribs, so tiny that it didn’t feel like a main. The flavor for both the beef taco and the fish taco needs some tuning. I’m sure you can do better.

The lobster roll taste good, but definitely not worth the price. Only a little lobster pieces on top, underneath were all lettuce and onion….. the spicy chicken is horrible, very salty and spicy. Maybe it's been marinated for a long time… Don’t expect for a big portion.

Wanted to give a shout out to Jessica for being the best waitress ever; she always recommends the best cocktails! Also she has great customer service and is so friendly so you’re definitely very lucky to have her wilcox!The cocktails here are my fave and this is coming from someone who doesn’t usually like cocktails or alcohol. For anyone who likes sweeter drinks that don’t taste like strong alcoholic drinks, I really like “passionate from miles away” and “sojuicee” (as recommended to me by Jessica)I always look forward to tuesdays and Wednesday’s because of the oyster deal I’m always begging my bf to go haha. But their oysters are so fresh and the perfect size and I love the radish, lemon and cocktail sides.The food here is also great the truffle fries are so crispy and had the perfect amount of cheese. I also like their lobster roll and burgers. The only thing I think could be improved on are their pasta dishes like the carbonara. The seafood linguine was also a bit watery and needed more seasoning but it did have a generous amount of seafood.Also the patio outside is really cute so is perfect for a meal with friends or date night!Look forward to coming here again soon!
