The Social American Tavern - Milwaukee

I had the cheeseburger, which I ordered medium. When it came out the bottom of the bun was burnt black. How does the chef send it out that way? The burger itself was well done and very dry. It felt like it had been cooked hours before and sat. The cheese was hard and dried out. The burger was not edible. The only thing on the plate that was good was the leaf of lettuce and slice of tomato. On the plus side, my husband said his salmon was ok.

Great experience at this restaurant! It is a must try!

Not a great experience for Downtown Dining Week. Understaffed, very slow to get food out of the kitchen. The food was very average, not bad but not great. It was a very typical hotel meal. It provides sustenance, but there are no James Beard awards coming anytime soon. I would not return, it was a very poor experience.

The food and decor was good, but the service was extremely slow on a Tuesday night when they were not more than 50% full. It may be an issue with staffing?

Great experience! I cannot say enough about the service and food! We went during downtown dining week so of course it was a bang for our buck but based on what the meal was worth I would say it's priced right! The building is just a beautiful piece of history! Definitely will be returning!
