Bidra med feedback(visited September’19) I knew that it was a good sign when I was the only “non Italian” speaking customer in this cozy little restaurant, the chef silvia was busy to welcome all in Italian, tried to engage with me in broken pieces English, but penetrated his warmth and personality through the linguistic barrier. the eating started “Omakase” style, for most part I didn’t know exactly what I had, I remembered that the cheese was full of taste, the grilled sole was perhaps the best grilled fish I had tasted until today, pasta dish was done very well. more than eating, latteria maffucci beats me as this hole in the wall, a little out of mailand mitte, but definitiw worth making her trip here. the evening takes time, and silvia makes it a point to feed them really well. I was invited by the owner halfway through dinner for a break (although I don't smoke) it was nice to watch the conversations that I was even invited to learn how to make espresso at the end of the meal, isn't what we love to eat? Some of us look for these “M stars” restaurants, for me this is exactly the kind of nice eating people I love! I hope everything is good and happy to be back soon! stay safe! prost. release
What an amazing place!!!! Dish after dish of excellent homemade food. The only thing to fault here was it was too much amazing food. I will definitely return and you should consider yourself lucky to have found this gem. So simple and yet so memorable. The husband and wife team are simply the best!
After several visits before and after the pandemic, Latteria Maffucci remains a great place for a multicourse, seafood-based meal with friends, but book ahead, due to the small size. For visitors to Milan who do not speak Italian, it is easiest to ask your hotel concierge to help book at table. There is basically one seating for dinner, around 830PM. Over what will extend for a few hours, you will be served a variety of seafood-rich salads, shellfish and whole fish, often branzino, served with prosecco and still white wine from the region, all made on site by wonderful chefs working in a tiny space. It is off the beaten path and worth the effort, thanks to the the warmth and charm you will find on your visit. I can't wait to go back. Ciao Silvio (proprietor) !
Google Maps led me to this hidden gem that was open late. I believe I arrived at 9pm when most businesses in the area had already closed. I could not have been more amazed in my first visit to Italy in 5 years. The manager at the front speaks very little English which I thought was great, this is a true authentic Italian restaurant. Then I realized what had I gotten myself into as I looked around for a menu and he said no . Then proceeded to start me off with bread. Luckily another patron spoke English and proceeded to tell me there was a set menu for the evening; everyone gets the same dishes of which people have already pictured. Every dish was amazing and to be expected as I am sure they have perfected these dishes down to an art. The flavors in every dish were gorgeous and everything I imagined Italian cooking to be and that 's coming from the perspective of having an Italian grandmother teach me how to cook during my last trip to Italy. Despite being solo, I must have gotten the portions for two because I gave up after round 8. Looking at photo of the Branzino others posted, I 'm so sorry I missed that but I literally was in danger of not being able to walk back to my hotel room if I ate another bite. And I can comfortably eat a 30 oz Prime rib with the fixings for dinner. Sparkling wine was included, I had a whole bottle to myself. Then came the moment of fear. The food was so incredible I had forgotten to ask how much it was? I started playing the Price is Right in my head. 40 Euro? No. 50 Euro? 60 Euro? 80 Euro? Was this an Italian mafia joint where they are going to make me an offer I can 't refuse? I was a bit apprehensive to ask until another patron went up to pay and I learned it was a very reasonable 50 Euro per person which I paid with my US based Visa card. Delightful! The ambiance is more suitable for a date, but the crowd that night was mostly group of friends. I look forward to the day I can take my wife there with a very hungry appetite.
We went in asking if they take American Express for payment. I 'm so glad we stayed even though they said NO. The host and hostess (husband and wife, I 'm ignorantly assuming) welcomed us in, and proceeded to blow our minds with the simple dishes we were served. I 've never been more embarrased to not know Italian, I 'm sure the host was telling us to SLOW DOWN and ENJOY EACH BITE. Had the Petto di Pollo and Stracciatella served with a side of steamed veggies (piselli, spinaci, carote, zucchine, crauti mele). So simply prepared, such a taste explosion. I can 't say enough of this little mom and pop on a side street in Milano. Wanted to go back to try the Steak and Branzino. Highly HIGHLY recommend this gem.
