Blue Canoe - Melvern

I have enjoyed the food at this restaurant in the past. I remember the salsa being unique and smokey. Unfortunately, tonight the burger was small and unappetizing with cold toppings. The fries were hot but undercooked. My wife and daughter ordered the chicken fried steak. The steak was hot but mediocre, and the mashed potatoes were cold. I typically like supporting small town restaurants, but with food quality like this, I won't be returning. The service, however, was satisfactory.

I had never been to this restaurant before, so my daughter took me there for my birthday. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it (I had to take leftovers home). I was a bit unsure about their onion straws, though. The service was okay, but I found the high school student servers to be a little inattentive. Despite that, I had a generally positive experience and plan to return in the future.

However, the positive aspects include the friendly staff, good food made with fresh local beef, and creative and delicious menu items. The restaurant is conveniently located for visitors to Melvern Lake. Despite the negatives, we still choose to support this off-the-beaten-path restaurant and I would recommend it to others. I give it 3 stars, but believe there is room for improvement.

A MUST if your in the area. We stopped after reading some reviews. The inside is industrial great music. Now the Chicken Fried Steak???????????? Real mashed potatoes ???????????? Cole Slaw...Slap your face good. But the OMG cake aka Better than Sexcake. Will make you wonder how can you eat all this amazing food. A must stop for anyone.

The vegetables were hot, but undercooked. My wife and daughter ordered the chicken steak. The steak was hot and decent, but the potatoes were cold. I appreciate supporting a small city restaurant, but with this kind of food quality, I won't be returning. The service, on the other hand, was excellent.
