Phoenician Queen - Melbourne

We visited in August and were surprised at how good the food was, despite it being in hipster territory. Basically a Lebanese BBQ meal, the food kept coming from the first plate of dips. To the final serving of beef and chicken kebabs. When we visited the meal was a fixed cost including amglass of wine or beer. It was excellent value for a delicious middle eastern meal.

We used to eat here when it was Chianti Bistro and Franco welcomed us with his infectious warmth. Franco retired some years back and the former bistro has been through at least one makeover before this latest manifestation as a Lebanese restaurant. We were very pleased with our experience. The decor now has a decidedly middle-eastern touch but the Lebanese version of an Italian welcome is just as warm. The menu features barbecued meat as a signature dish and these are served at table still attached to the spit. There are the usual selection of Lebanese accompaniments, including dips, Kibbeh, Falafel, Tabouleh and more. The food is fresh, tasty and attractively presented. All the desserts are made on the premises and we enjoyed Lebanese cassata, a somewhat stronger tasting version of the Italian classic, complete with Persian fairy-floss! There is a good selection of wines available, including some middle-eastern varieties. Prices are reasonable and the service is attentive and pleasant. Certainly it's worth adding Phoenician Queen to the list of local eateries and we intend to return.

Went on a Sunday for lunch catchup with friend. Very quiet, only a few tables. Host was very friendly and helpful. If you like meat this is the place to go, BBQ lamb, chicken, beef, bought to table and kept coming. Tasty starters, hommus, flat bread tabouleh, babaganoush, the usual, but a great fatoush salad though!

A great addition to the neighborhood.you can order a la carts or the fixed price barbecue. Our party of 3 generations had the barbecue. It was great,steak,lamb sausage,chicken etc etc and dips and salads . Food was high quality and plentiful. Service was friendly and efficient.

Enjoyed a lovely dinner here with friends. Used a scoopon voucher which made the meal cheap. Great food and very friendly staff. It was all you can eat served at your table and the food just kept coming. Worth a try.
