Magee's Bakery - Maysville

I'm always in the business area, and it's often suggested that I make the bakery that makes these transparent cakes. Well, I found it and are they ever delicious? It's no wonder George Clooney loves the place. What makes a translucent cake so unique? It's the ingredients, or the lack of it. They taste much like a sugar cookie, but in a cuddly cake form. The little cakes are great for a person, then there are all the cakes for a small group. They serve other baked goods, but if you're honest with you, you came to the cake. Very friendly staff. I'll look in here from time to time!

I grew up in Maysville, so I was familiar with Magees's when it was on Market Street. Saturdays were a treat because it meant a trip to the city in the library and a stop at the Bakery for a transparent pudding or cream horn. Now I've grown and live in Nashville, Tenn, but a visit to Maysville still includes a stop in Magee's Bakery. The bakery can have moved, but neither the quality nor the taste have diminished least. It seems that transparent puddings or tarts are still a regional thing as I can find them nowhere else, but they are known all over the world, partly due to George Clooney's love for this rich dessert. He grew up in the area, and he is known in an order for shipping to one of his houses or the location of his latest movie for a small taste of home. I think they are also for me and a little taste of home.

My favorite bakery! A short 2 miles from AA Highway in Orangeburg, Kentucky and the stop worth. The Cream-Filled Horns are best that I have ever tasted, all different cookies, Cinnamon Crisps, etc. are incredible. Five stars every time!!!

I'm from Maysville and I ate the Tarts all my life. Now live in Cincinnati, and if I need a tart repair, I sent it to me....Not like that. When my uncle died, the family put a tart in his coffin, he loved her like that. True story.

Always happy with my purchases from Magee's. Transparent tarts are my favorite! Wonderful bakery!!
